Northern Country Region Relay Carnivals

The Region Relay Carnivals are our main team competition for the season for U9 to U17 athletes. This is the only Carnival where boys and girls can run against each other in a mixed sex team. Athletes carry a baton which they pass onto the next member of their team.

Who can compete?

To be eligible to enter the Region Relay Carnival, athletes must be registered and be a financial Little Athletics Victoria Competitive Member by the closing date and time for entries (ie. date and time of the submission of team sheets). There are no exemptions.

How you can compete

Athletes can enter a maximum of four team events only, in a ‘combination’ of any of the following:

  • 4 x 100m (Male/Female and/or Mixed Sex (MS))
  • 4 x 200m (Male/Female and/or Mixed Sex (MS)
  • Medley, Male/Female)

Registration Information

Each Centre is responsible for entering their Centre’s teams. Individual athletes do not enter teams. Centres will be sent a link to enter. Albury make every effort to ensure all athletes who want to compete at Region are put in a team. If there is not a team for a certain age group there is the possibility of forming a Northern Country Region team with other centres who may also have individual athletes.

It is an expectation that should you register to compete at Region that you are also agreeing to compete at the State Relay Championships also should your team qualify. Failure to do so results in your teammates missing the opportunity to compete at State.

Entry Fee: TBC

Entries Close: TBC

The 2023/24 Northern Country Region Relay Carnival will be held at Bendigo. More information will be released closer to the event.

Qualifying for the State Relay Championships

To be eligible to compete at the State Relay Championships athletes must be listed on the team sheet as a member of a team that competed at the Region Relay Championship where the athlete’s Centre is allocated.

It is an requirement of entering your athlete that parents will be placed on a roster for assigned club duties at these events. Without these volunteers, these events cannot take place. These duties are often simple and will be explained to you by the team manager and the officials in charge on the day. Each family will be assigned a job and these jobs are for short times so you are able to watch your athlete compete also.
